HISTORICAL SIGHTINGS

David Barclay Adams (Born 1814)

Cedar City Utah
Museum in town exhibits a nice picture of Grand Father David Barclay Adams as
an iron worker and influential member of the state and community.

Robert Dockery Covington (Born 1815)

Washington, Utah (North of Saint George, Utah)
Grand Father Dockery Covington's mansion still stands and is a state historical marker. A placque downtown has some of the relatives names on it such as Pectol, etc. Grand Father is burried there next to the general authority of the time, Hancock. Grand Father was the first Bishop there and was sent to grow cotton. (He had in his ward, a person who was later the only person executed for the Mountain Meadows Massacure. The man was stood up against his casket, shot, and then fell in and buried right at the massacure sight.)

William A. Hickman (Born 1815)

(Salt Lake City Pioneer Museum, up by the state capital building)
A picture of Grand Father William Hickman hangs with Porter Rockwell in the gun section
with the caption stating:
William Hickman - body guard of the Prophet Joseph Smith.

William A. Hickman (Born 1815)

Fillmore, Utah (early state capital or seat of Utah)
Upstairs a nice arrangements of pictures of early legislatures of early Utah. Brigham Young is in the middle with Grand Father William Hickman handsomely dressed, right next to the Prophet. I never did care for his beard until I saw him in this picture. He looked very distinguished.

William A. Hickman (Born 1815)

Idaho Falls, Idaho: A large 3 x 4 foot placque (carved wood sign)
honoring Grand Father William A. Hickman is placed at the foot of the Idaho Falls Temple, south down by the bridge. Apparently he built and operated the first ferry across the river which especially served those headed west in search of gold.
